The Warkworth Catholic Community is Moving!

With Effect from the end of January 2025, Holy Name Catholic Parish, currently located at 6 Alnwick Street, Warkworth, is moving to the old Ascension Winery at 480 Matikana Road.

To commemorate the ending of an era, and new beginnings, the Parish is producing a Special Commemorative booklet, and We Need Your Help!

A Unique New Centre of Worship!

 The proposed move of Holy Name Parish in Warksworth to the Ascension Wine Estate on the Matakana Road is possibly one of the most exciting developments in recent times for the Catholic Church in Aotearoa/New Zealand, the Diocese of Auckland and the Parish!

The 6,38ha site, with its cluster of Tuscan-styled buildings and vineyard, offers the potential for the creation of a worship environment certainly unique to New Zealand, and possibly also to the Southern Hemisphere!

The beginning of this new chapter in the life of the Warkworth Catholic Community certainly needs to be celebrated, and one of the ways the Parish is planning to do that is through the production of a commemorative booklet, which, it is planned, will document some of the history of the Parish, and, in particular, the Alnwick Street Church. The book will also feature a brief history of the Ascension Wine Estate, and will look forward to possible future developments on the site.

Write-On Publishing, owned and operated by Frank Nunan, a parishioner who attends Mass at Sts Peter and Paul in Puhoi, is proud to have been commissioned to undertake this special project. The project is designed to be self-funding through sponsorship and advertising, and the revenue from the sale of the books themselves will go towards Parish fundraising to assist in meeting the costs of the trans-location.

We Need Your Help!

A project like this needs input from many people to be successful, and there are a number of ways YOU as parishioners, past parishioners can help:

  1. Stories and Pictures – Do you have a story and/or pictures relating to the history of the parish that could find its way into the book? If so, please fill in the form below and upload your pictures and/or Word document. If you have old pictures (non-digital), please also fill in the form, and let us know in the message box what you have and how we can get it..
  2. Advertisers and Sponsors – Do you know any businesses, or even individuals, who might wish to wish the Parish well with an advertisement in the book? If so, please provide the details below. Please also use any influence you may have with these entities to convince them to assist. 
  3. Other Parishes and Catholic Institutions – We will be creating a Special “Smalls” section where other parishes and Diocesan institutions can place a small advertisement expressing their support. Please forward this leaflet to friends and family in other parishes and ask them to bring this project to the attention of their parish leadership. Individual Warkworth and other Parishioners may also choose to take a “Small” to wish the Parish well.
  4. Pre-Order your Copy of the book – Also on our dedicated website page is a form allowing you to pre-order your copy of the book. The final price is likely to be in the region of $30, but you will not be expected to pay until the books are actually delivered. Pre-ordering will enable us to easily establish how many books we should print.

Here are our proposed advertising tariffs:

  1. Double Page Spread (DPS): $400
  2. Full page (A5): $250
  3. Half Page: $150
  4. Quarter Page: $100
  5. Back Cover: $400 (Sold)
  6. Inside Front/Back Cover: $300

Don’t have an ad you can use? Don’t worry; give us a logo and/or some pictures, and we will create one for you – a flat fee of $75, irrespective of size.

Special "Smalls" Adverts

We would like to invite our sister parishes in the Auckland Diocese, as well as Diocesan institutions, to join us in celebrating this momentous event by wishing the Parish well through the purchase of a special “Smalls” advertisement. Individual Parishioners may also choose to take a “Small” to wish the Parish well.

Basic Size per “Small”: 60mm x 30mm
Price: $60 (includes logo and typesetting).

Parishes and other entities may choose to purchase more than one “Small” if they so wish

Alternatively, they may choose to purchase a standard advertisement as per our tariffs.
