The LUNGS

By Steve Goldthorpe

The most optimistic scenario for Climate Change is global net-zero emissions by 2050.
My thesis is that unlimited deep ocean storage of CO2 has the potential to remove that storage capacity constraint and thereby instead enable the global climate to be returned to its benign pre-industrial average temperature by the end of this century.
In this book, Part 1 is a fictional story. It starts at the endpoint in 2100 and then postulates how that desirable outcome was achieved. In Part 2 of this book is a personal perspective on the evolution of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies. Part 3 is a visual presentation of the LUNGS concept that I gave to the GHGT-18 conference in Perth in 2026.When my youngest granddaughter was born, I expected that she would live until the end of the century, when I would be long gone. I want my legacy to be a scheme for a liveable planet for her and her grandchildren.
This story is for her. It imagines her experiences in 2100.
